2008 YSU PME
Regional Conference

The Ohio Xi Chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon at Youngstown State University is hosting its tenth annual regional Student Paper Meeting on

March 1, 2008.

The meeting will give undergraduate students the opportunity to present results of their projects and research, and to listen to topics that are of interest to other undergraduate students in our region. Any topic in undergraduate mathematics that is likely to be of interest to other undergraduate mathematics students is appropriate, be it in history, education, research, or anything between. We are scheduling the talks for 15 minutes each with five minutes between talks. Each student giving a talk should list a faculty advisor, primarily for ease of communication.

We are inviting all Pi Mu Epsilon Chapters that lie within three hours drive of Youngstown, as well as a number of other schools in the region that we know have interest in undergraduate student research. There is no intention to be selective, however, so if you know of someone who would like to attend, please do not hesitate to contact us so that we can invite them.

The National Science Foundation Regional Mathematics Conferences (NSF-RUMC) Grant Committee is supporting our conference this year (NSF Grant DMS-0241090). We have a limited amount of travel funding available. If you are in need of travel assistance, please contact Jay Kerns as soon as possible.

Parking passes will be available at the entrance to the the M-2 parking deck, located on the corner of 5th Avenue and Lincoln Avenue, adjacent to Cushwa Hall, where the conference is located. You should enter the deck from 5th Avenue. At the parking booth, tell them that you are visiting YSU for a mathematics conference and they will give you a parking pass. The deck clearance is 6 feet, 3 inches high. If you are concerned about parking a van in the deck, you should park across Lincoln Avenue in the M-24 parking lot. Enter this lot on Grant Avenue. If you need to park in the M-24 lot, you should pick up your pass from the parking attendant at the M-2 deck and give it to the M-24 attendant. You can also pay the M-24 attendant $4 per car and bring us the receipt for which we will reimburse you.
