Information for Teachers

The purpose of YSU MathFest is to celebrate both the beauty and power of mathematics. We try to offer something to all students interested in mathematics. Although we will have some competitions we believe that the workshops and group activities form the central theme of the day. Please invite students that are curious and enjoy problem solving. More importantly, the students should be truly interested in mathematics. We suggest that you bring between 5 and 10 students. We typically have many more students wanting to come than places available. (Our facilities limit us to accommodating no more than 350 students.)

There are two stages of registration for YSU MathFest. First, we need to know which schools are participating. Thus you will need to register your school for YSU MathFest by submitting the MathFest School Registration Form below by October 5, 2007.

Once you determine which of your students are attending please have them fill out the Student Registration Form by November 1, 2007. Please make sure that each student registers!

Please note that all students will participate in two workshops .Some students may wish to participate in the Mixed Team Competition, while others may wish to take the Challenge of Champions Test. We ask that you email us with a list of your students that are taking the Challenge of Champions Test by November 2, 2007. The Challenge of Champions Test is challenging so please advise your students appropriately.

We also ask that you register one team of students, representing your school for the Mathbowl by November 2, 2007.

At the end of the day, all students should be present at the ever-important prize giving ceremonies! We kindly ask that all schools stay until the end of the festivities (about 2:30 pm).

Encourage your students to submit entries in the Essay Contest and/or the Statistics Poster Contest . Both of these activities are completed prior to YSU MathFest and attendance at YSU MathFest is not mandatory to participate in these contests.

There will be a $5 fee for each student attending YSU MathFest. Checks may be made out to YSU MathFest and are due by November 7, 2007. Please send your checks to
